Connecticut is investing approximately $320 million in its Early Childhood Education Endowment, bringing the state’s total commitment to more than $620 million since the permanent funding source was established in 2025. The endowment is designed to address the high cost and limited availability of care while creating additional child care spaces, improving educator compensation and helping providers build financially sustainable programs.
Beginning in July 2027, eligible families earning up to $100,000 annually and enrolled in state-funded Early Start CT spaces are expected to receive child care at no cost. Contributions for families earning more will be capped at 7% of household income. The state is also investing $10 million in health insurance subsidies for early childhood educators and dedicating funding to facilities, provider operations, workforce development and program quality—recognizing that family affordability depends on a stable and well-supported child care system.
