Free public exhibit, extended through Oct. 25, includes videos, artwork and written stories from local residents on livability challenges
“Dear Steamboat” brings the Yampa Valley’s affordability crisis to life through residents’ stories, local data, artwork and interactive displays. Created by Steamboat For All, the free exhibit explores how housing costs, childcare shortages and growing commutes affect the people who keep the community running—and the sacrifices they make to stay.
Stories from the organization’s ambassadors show the personal consequences behind those numbers, including young adults moving back in with parents and residents questioning whether hard work can still secure a future here. Visitors can explore the balance between wages and expenses, record their own stories and suggest solutions.
The exhibit encourages people to recognize shared struggles and consider what preserving Steamboat’s community character requires. The article reports an extension through October 25, with hours of 10 a.m.–5 p.m. October 19–25, at 1306 Lincoln Ave.
